2007 Relay for Life Committee
Hi All!I'm really proud of how much our team accomplished this past year! Our official total for 2006 is about $3400. I have an email in to Tinker asking about our group prize (to be used as a raffle prize for next year!) and individual prizes. I'll update as soon as I hear back on that.
I've received an invitation to be on the 2007 Relay for Life Committee to help organize and run the event.
Whoa! Very flattering! I've let them know that I have some serious family commitments that take priority in my life. My daughter comes first, before God, Country, Work, and Volunteerism. Fortunately, they understand and are sympathetic to family needs, and they want me to come to an informational meeting on October 14th anyway!
Tab Davis is stepping down as the Activities Chair, and had asked me to help out or take over in that position before the '06 event. Flo and Thomas (and I!) agree that is going to be too much to take on if I've any hope to maintain any semblance of sanity in the upcoming months and year, and still manage to try and be a good parent/wife/coworker. I haven't spoken to Tab in a few months, so I'm not sure if she's found a good alternate replacement candidate yet.
I'd consider working on that with someone, maybe, if anyone is willing to share it. The amount of time and work that lady put in makes those some fairly daunting shoes to fill.
Ginger B. has graciously committed to being the Invitrogen co-Captain for next year, I'm hoping you'll have me on again as a Co-Captain or at least allow me to help organize fundraising activities. I'm definitely planning on being on the team, no matter who's in charge! Helping out on a larger scale sounds really good and totally do-able, now that I know what to expect and what goes on during an event.
I'm going to do as much as I can do, and I'm trying not to take on any more than I can chew. I'm hoping I can assist a chair or volunteer in some capacity. If anyone else is interested in serving as an event volunteer, above and beyond (and hopefully in conjunction with!) being on the Invitrogen team, please email me for Flo's contact information, for more information on what is needed and the October 14th informational meeting/training session.
